Is there more than one option available? Well we believe so and we’ve always said that if the second pitch was moved to the City end of the Stadium and the main body of the Showgrounds maintained for the Marina Park then we could work with the City Council and the County Board.

In the GAA Pairc image the second pitch separates the Marina Park from the Atlantic Pond. In this image we’ve including parking. Up to now all the images available from the Cork County Board & the Cork City Council have failed to show parking and access routes to the stadium.
We believe that for the Marina Park to be a success the main body of the Showgrounds needs to be maintained and remain connected to the Atlantic Pond. For this to happen the GAA’s proposed second pitch would need to swing around to the City end of the Stadium. This solves a number of problems. Access to the second pitch is off the broad, straight & capacious Monahan & Centre Park Roads as opposed to hilly, narrow, residential Maryville. It also allows for ample off-street parking close to the second pitch. Furthermore invasive high-wattage floodlights are moved away from the wildlife on the Atlantic Pond and residential areas.
